How long it will take to create and make a profit from a group programme?

Are you planning to launch a group tuition programme but wondering how long it will take to create, take to the market, and make a profit?

Here is a general timeline to guide you:

PHASE 1: Choose your niche, messaging, and programme structure

This phase can take between 1-5 weeks depending on your current circumstances. If you already have a profitable 1-1 tuition service, you could create your programme structure in 1-2 weeks.

However, if you’re still in a teaching job and have never really tutored before, you will need to explore your niche and messaging.

So allow yourself up to 5 weeks to validate your programme idea and decide on it’s length, price, and how you will offer support to your students (I recommend a hybrid of video content, group calls and weekly 1:1 mini feedbacks).

PHASE 2: Build Your Authority & Audience Ahead Of Your LaunchThis phase should take between 4-8 weeks, where you need to showcase your expertise and build credibility within your chosen audience.

If you are a 1:1 tutor already and have built an email list and/ or social following, and have been actively engaging your audience through emails or social media posts, you can start seeding the idea for your group programme straight away and get the right people interested.

However, if you have not really considered who your ideal audience is, much less done any ‘real’ marketing, we’ll use this stage to identify the best marketing strategies for your personality type.

The aim here is to grow a brand new audience of about 100-300 new people who are interested in your tuition programme.

PHASE 3: Launch

We will plan out your sales process in advance, including how to get ideal students onto calls with you, or sending the interested parties a pdf with all the programme details.

The launch itself can take between 3-4 weeks. You can either do an elaborate launch like a free online workshop series, or a low-key launch with just a few students to get started with.

Remember, at this phase, you do not need to design programme content until you have made your first sale. You only have to plan your course outline.

With this timeline, you can launch your group programme effectively and charge professional fees, while helping your students achieve their academic goals.

PHASE 4: Deliver

After selling your programme, schedule a kick-off call with your students and start creating your content. Create your content 2-3 weeks ahead of where your group is at, so that you can learn with your first cohort.

PHASE 5: Optimise

From here, all there is to do is optimise, rinse & repeat. You will have learnt a huge amount by now – you’ll know so much more about yourself, your ideal students and how to do ‘real’ marketing. You’ve come a long way, baby!

Now is the time to consolidate, tweak, and keep on building momentum.

You’ve done the hard work – now it’s time to keep improving your programme, building your income and reaping the rewards of your efforts in phases 1-4!
